Philip Morris Pakistan Builds a 30,700 Litre Water Tank for Skardu

Philip Morris Pakistan Limited has completed construction of a 30,700 litre water storage tank in Rigayul, Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan, in collaboration with the Hashoo Hunar Association. The facility is expected to directly benefit 100 households.

The tank was built to strengthen water security and improve access for local families, giving the community a dependable supply of water for everyday needs. By increasing local storage capacity, the project also supports household use and kitchen gardening, helping families become more resilient.

Ali Takesh, Managing Director of Philip Morris Pakistan Limited, said reliable access to water is fundamental to community wellbeing and sustainable development. He said the company works with experienced local organisations to support initiatives that meet community needs and create lasting positive impact, and expressed pleasure at contributing to the effort in Skardu.

The tank was constructed with reinforced concrete and fitted with waterproofing, plumbing and water tightness measures, designed as a durable, long term solution for the area. The Hashoo Hunar Association, the implementing partner, brings extensive experience in community development, infrastructure improvement and livelihood enhancement across Pakistan.

The project reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to the communities where it operates. As part of its broader corporate social responsibility work, Philip Morris Pakistan continues to invest in shared value initiatives covering water access, community wellbeing, livelihoods and environmental sustainability, aiming for practical solutions that improve quality of life and strengthen local resilience.
