The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Islamabad has extended the deadline for submitting HSSC registration returns to October 30, 2026, giving affiliated institutions and students additional breathing room to complete their paperwork.
The extension came in response to requests from affiliated institutions and followed the special intervention of the Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui. The decision particularly considered the difficulties faced by institutions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, along with other affiliated institutions struggling to complete the registration process within the earlier timeframe.
Registration returns are the administrative backbone of the board examination system: they are how institutions formally enroll their students for the Higher Secondary School Certificate examinations. Errors or omissions at this stage cascade into admit card problems, result delays and withheld certificates months later. The board has advised heads of institutions to use the extended deadline well and to ensure all information submitted is complete, accurate and compliant with FBISE rules.
The minister's personal intervention signals that the difficulties were substantive rather than procedural foot dragging. Institutions in AJK and other regions face genuine logistical constraints, from connectivity gaps to staffing shortages, that make rigid national deadlines punishing. A responsive regulator that adjusts timelines to ground realities serves students better than one that enforces uniformity for its own sake.
A revised notification is being issued to all affiliated institutions. For students and parents, the message is simple: the window is open until October 30 with the normal fee, and institutions should now move quickly to get every eligible student's registration filed correctly.
