JS Bank and Beaconhouse National University Create a Chair for Sustainability and Fintech

JS Bank has signed a memorandum of understanding with Beaconhouse National University to establish a dedicated Chair in Sustainability and Fintech, funded by the bank. The university, described as Pakistan's first not for profit liberal arts institution, will host the chair as a hub for research, innovation and thought leadership. The chair's agenda spans research and development, policy advocacy, green leadership initiatives, and educational workshops and training programs. The partnership is presented as a milestone for both institutions in advancing sustainability, climate resilience and financial technology in Pakistan. Basir Shamsie, president and chief executive of JS Bank, said the bank has always been committed to advancing sustainability and innovation, and that the agreement aims to catalyze research and sustainable practices for a greener future. Dr. Moeed Yusuf, the university's vice chancellor, said the initiative aligns with the university's commitment to knowledge, research and societal betterment, adding that the partners would leverage their joint expertise to create meaningful impact. The announcement describes JS Bank as one of Pakistan's fastest growing banks with domestic and international operations, a leader in lending to small and medium enterprises, and an award winner at forums including AsiaMoney and the Pakistan Banking Awards. The bank is part of the JS Group. Beaconhouse National University offers programs across arts, design, architecture, media, humanities, social sciences, business and information technology.
