Kohsar University Murree Gets Two Pink Buses for Female Students

Kohsar University Murree is getting two dedicated Pink Buses for its female students, a targeted intervention for safe campus commuting in the hill station city.

The buses have been provided on the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to improve transportation facilities for female students of the university. For young women studying in Murree, many of them commuting from surrounding areas, dedicated transport removes one of the most persistent barriers to higher education: the daily journey itself.

Transport safety shapes educational choices in Pakistan more than most policymakers acknowledge. Families weighing whether a daughter continues to university factor in not just fees but the reliability and safety of the commute. A dedicated bus, with known routes and fellow students aboard, changes that calculation. It is a small investment with an outsized effect on enrollment and retention.

The Pink Bus initiative has grown into a recognizable brand for women's transport in Punjab, and its extension to a university campus is a natural fit. Unlike a generic transport subsidy, a visible, dedicated service signals institutional commitment: the university and the government consider these students' mobility their responsibility.

It is a step toward safer and more reliable daily travel for young women studying in the hill station city. The measure of its success will be simple: more female students enrolling, attending and graduating, because getting to campus stopped being the hardest part of the degree.
