Final 3500 MHz Round of 5G Spectrum Auction Underway After 2600 MHz Bidding Closes

Pakistan's 5G spectrum auction has entered its final stage, with operators now bidding for airwaves in the 3500 MHz frequency band. The process marks the second phase of the auction coming to a close.

The final round was formally launched by Federal IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja, alongside the IT Secretary and the PTA Chairman. It is part of a broader national push to expand 5G services and improve digital connectivity for businesses and consumers.

PTA Chairman Hafeez Ur Rehman confirmed that bidding for the 2600 MHz band has already been completed successfully. Telecom companies have finalised their positions in that band, and the results will be announced together with the outcome of the 3500 MHz bidding once it concludes.

The joint announcement will decide which operators secure the rights to use these key frequency bands for rolling out 5G services across Pakistan. The auction is seen as critical for strengthening telecom infrastructure, enabling faster and more reliable internet and supporting advances such as smart cities, digital banking and industrial automation.

With the final phase underway, Pakistan is one step closer to becoming a nation fully ready for 5G, opening new possibilities for consumers and businesses alike.
